About Us

Who We Are: Our association aims at creating better work conditions for translators and raising awareness about the importance of translation.

Objectives: Our objectives are as follows:

  • To promote translation as a profession in India
  • To protect the interests of translators in India
  • To encourage interactions between the academic world and translators
  • To advance high standards in translation
  • To encourage the multilingual publication of content that enriches our understanding of the theoretical and practical aspects of translation
  • To provide its members with networking, training and other professional development opportunities

History: Our organization has its roots in a Google Group called “Hindi Anuvaadak (Hindi Translators)” that was created in 2008. The group’s objective was to discuss things relevant to Hindi translation in particular and languages in general. Later, the members of the group felt the need to create another group that represented the aspirations and needs of all Indian translators irrespective of their working languages. This gave birth to another group called “Translators of India” in 2021.
